With roots in the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Marilyn moved to New Mexico as a young child. Marilyn earned her college degrees from the University of New Mexico in art (1969) and special education (1978). Her career was devoted to working in programs for people with disabilities. She joined numerous efforts to enable the rights of children with disabilities throughout the ‘80’s and ‘90s. It was only after retiring from the NM Department of Health in 2006 that she picked up a paintbrush once again.

Watercolor is her medium of choice. At times a pen & ink drawing best suits her desire to render a scene, especially when the subject has a traditional feeling. As an outdoor enthusiast and conservationist, Marilyn values the opportunity to document a place in time, the wonder of nature, and to share the interaction of people and animals with the natural world.

Marilyn’s  work is often created from painting outdoors with the Taos Plein Air Painters Society. She is also a Signature Member of the Taos Watercolor Society, and her paintings can usually be seen in their events and juried exhibitions, as well as at the:

Artwork may also be seen by appointment at her River Dog Studio in Embudo, New Mexico.
